Pooja Details:
Shravana Maas, one of the holiest months of Hindu calendar, starts today July27th. It is filled with auspicious days & festivals. Mondays are dedicated to Lord Shiva, as it is believed that Samudra Manthan (churning of Ocean) took place during this month. Lord Shiva drank the poison then, turning his throat blue, thus giving Him the name of Neelakanth.
Shravana Maas (month) is also dedicated to Lord Vishnu & Goddess Mahalakshmi. Worshipping Lakshmi Devi on Shravana Shukravar (Fridays) is highly auspicious, as she bestows all the eight best forces of the world on you. The eight forces, known as Ashta Lakshmi are: primeval force (Aadi Laxmi), wealth (Dhana Lakshmi), courage (Dhairya Laxmi or Veera Lakshmi), wisdom (Vidhya Laksmi), Children or family development (Santana Laxmi), success (Vijaya Lakshmi), food (Dhanya Laxmi) and strength (Gaja Lakshmi) are dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi. Observing Varalaksmi Vratham would bless a woman with all eight energies for life.
This year, Varalakshmi Vratam falls on Friday 20th August.

On Sunday, 15th August, groups of ladies are performing, as tradition, Samuha Shravana Varalakshmi Pooja for Mahalakshmi at SVT Helensburgh. All ladies, young & old, are cordially invited to join & receive the blessings.
Sunday, 15th August 9.30am at SVT Lord Balaji Temple.
9.30am start: Sree suktha Homam.
10.30am-11.30am: Mahalakshmi Abishekham
11.30am-12.30pm: Sree Mahalakshmi Saharanama Pooja with Akshinta (rice ) & kumkum by all ladies and Mangal Aarthi.
Note: Please bring along a plate & a coconut with the top husk intact. Kalasam & other Pooja material will be provided by the temple. Kindly purchase a Pooja Ticket $31 at the Temple Counter on arrival.
