BRAHMOTSAVAM: SPONSORSHIP/SANKALPAM GUIDELINES

SVT Brahmotsavam Sponsor’s Sankalpam Guidelines

During SVT Brahmotsavam (9-18th Oct, 2010), all the sponsor families will be given a special Sankalpam at the start of the poojas and also given Special Blessings (prasadam) at the end of the poojas on the chosen day.

What is Sankalpam?  Sankalpam is the auspicious beginning of the Pooja of the day. While the Priests chant the Sankalpa Mantra, they connect the cosmic cycle to the present moment to the sponsor family being blessed. It is a divine privilege and mark of respect for you and your family at this Brahmotsavam.

Kindly follow these Sponsor’s Sankalpam guidelines:

1.    Group Leaders to send all Sponsors’ name/details to Mr. Murali of SVT prior to Brahmotsavam, so he can ensure proper arrangements for receiving sponsor families & giving Sankalpams on chosen days. (Email: murali2000@hotmail.com)

2.    All sponsor donations ($) must be accounted for directly with the Treasurer, Kana (Dr. Kanapathipillai Email: treasurer@svtsydney.org) & receipts issued to donors.

3.    On sponsor’s nominated day, families must assemble for Sankalpam at Sri Balaji Temple between 7am-8am for the morning & between 3pm-4pm for evening Poojas. They’ll be welcomed at the door & registered. Any late-comer may be accommodated only if one of the priests is free.

4.    Any family donating $101 & above qualify for this Sankalpam & special blessings.

5.    After the Poojas (12 noon-1pm or 8pm-9pm), sponsor names will be called out (in order of Gold, Silver, Copper & so on) to receive special Blessings (prasadam) from the Priests.

6.    The Blessings (prasadam) include a special plate (engraved Stainless Steel), with blessed items (Vastiram, Fruits, Flowers etc). These will be offered to all sponsors. Only major sponsors ($5001, $3001 & $1001) receive, in addition, the Gold/Silver/Copper medallions in gift box.

7.    As it is an auspicious religious function at the temple, we recommend Hindu Traditional dress for all including children. Inappropriately clothed members may not be permitted to participate in poojas.

8.    Only elders will be provided with Chairs, if required. Video/Photography not allowed.

9.    Besides sponsors, any individual or family can participate in all the functions of the Brahmotsavam. We recommend that you join as sponsor (min $101) to enjoy the benefits and priority at these poojas.

10. Families are requested to receive Annadhanam between 12 noon to 2pm near the canteen.

11. Any family bringing their own prasadam items for Neyvedyam at Poojas will be allowed, as customary, but they cannot be served at the temple hall or courtyard due to crowd restrictions. You can only serve these Prasadams at the Annadhanam counter at the back (near Canteen).

12. Devotees may chant or sing hymns/songs during poojas at appropriate times as advised by Priests.

13. No dancing or drama acts are allowed inside the temple complex during Brahmotsavam due to crowd and fire (Homam) restrictions. However, such opportunity is provided at outdoor stage for all to enjoy.

14. Free cultural programs will be conducted between 12noon-4pm at the outdoor stage.
