Dear Devotees,
As you are aware, India is experiencing a major health crisis caused by the most extreme surge of infection and death throughout the Nation, since the beginning of the pandemic last year. The country’s national hospital system has collapsed and private hospitals are also on the verge of collapse because of the number of sufferers seeking hospitalisation and treatment. The country is in need of medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders, protective clothing, medicines etc.
In this time of need a number of nations have come forward to provide assistance to India. It is our duty, firstly as Hindus and secondly as the Indian diaspora living in Australia, to do our utmost to help that country at this time of need. We must show compassion and kindness to our fellow human beings living in India.
The Management of SVT has, therefore, decided to do its part in this noble cause by:
- Contributing a minimum of $25,000 to the “PM CARES Fund” out of our resources;
- Placing specifically marked collection boxes at the Temple and Canteen counters, to facilitate devotees / visitors, to make their contributions and be part of this noble and massive task. The money so collected will be added to the contribution;
- Making arrangements to perform “Dhanvantri Homam” and “Mruthunjaya Homam”, on Sunday the 23rd May 2021, invoking the graceful intervention of the Lords to bring about peace and solace in the Society. The entire proceeds received by way of sponsorship donations for Homams and Archanas, during this event, would be a further addition to the SVT’s contribution;
- While performing poojas in the mornings and evenings for the Presiding Deities, Sri Venkateswarar and Sri Chandramouleeswarar, it is customery to invoke their blessings for the well-being of all living beings in the Universe. The Priests will make special mention of India and its people, for their protection and to bless them for a safe and healthy life. This will continue until such time normalcy returns to the country.
